W&L March 2020

Well, March slowed down A LOT! Here is what we've been up to:

At the beginning of March, when we could still go to places, we went to a friend's birthday party at Locomotion.

The cupcakes were well received.

Lilly dressed as Olaf.

I finished painting the dining room!

We went out to dinner at a BBQ place that has three play places to play on!

Wendy was loving her skirt and twirled all the way to the car.

Wendy loved her birthday swing so much, she was going out there first thing in the morning to swing on it. Eventually, PJ started pushing her and it was so much fun she won't go out unless he pushes her now!
Wendy set up a "work station" in her room.

Wendy takes good care of her little sister and likes to "read" her stories from time to time at night.

Out enjoying a walk!

Playing at the playground while it was still allowed!

They love to walk on the stone walls!

After preschool one day, I needed to make a Costco trip so the girls were along for the ride. While I tried to hurry, I apparently wore out Lilly!

Going on a walk, being sweet.

Enjoying a "daddy push"

Playing in the sprinklers!

The city had already run out of toilet paper but PJ's buddy texted him when he saw it at the grocery store one night, thankfully!

First day of official social distancing. This was right as school let out for spring break for us. We started spring break off by pulling weeds and putting mulch down in the back yard. Oh, and roasting hot dogs over the fire!

The girls and I had a nail painting party.

And made some pizza.

Church was next to be cancelled so we were granted permission to have the sacrament at home and we have all had turns to share our testimony of Jesus too.

The lesson was about serving others so we didn't just talk about it- we made cookies to drop off on porches to brighten people's days!

Lilly having a turn giving a talk.

I made Salisbury Steak Meatballs with mashed potatoes and snap peas for dinner.

The next day, PJ went to the store in his protective gear. He's been doing the grocery runs for me so only one person has the possibility of being exposed to the virus at a time.

There were a lot of fun streaming options offered to kiddos when the social distancing started. We tried them out- this was Coach Ryan teaching us how to do certain sports at home.

We took a walk out to one the parks nearby to burn off some energy.

And we found bluebonnets! So I had to do the spring bluebonnet pictures.

The #reallife of having everyone home all the time and cooking all meals.

For scripture study, we acted out the parable of the olive tree and I would hide fun little toys around the yard if the tree was giving off good fruit. The girls were pretty excited to find them! They might be able to tell you the parable too...

We graphed our lucky charm to see how many of each charm we received in our sample. Then the girls promptly ate them.
Another day, another workout with Coach Ryan (and yes, that's our laundry that will be folded... at some point)

For St. Patrick's Day, I took the girls on a "parade" during which we shook musical instruments and sang made up songs about having a parade. We had candies that we sanitized and sealed in a zip lock bag and dropped off on friend's porches.

PJ went to go pick up a gun he had bought online only to be greeted with this line. He was in the store for 4 hours waiting in this line to pick up his gun.

For St. Patrick's Day dinner, I made "leprechaun lemonade" where the yellow lemonade magically turned green when poured into our cups (the girls didn't see I had blue food coloring already in the cups). Wendy was pretty impressed with the show!
Another day we were able to have story time with Ariel. This was about the time the virtual meetings and such were wearing off with the girls.

Lilly being creative in making a princess balloon picnic.

And checking the mail!

PJ had to go into the office to grab some things he left there so he let Lilly ride with him. It was probably the most exciting thing she did that day!

This was the last set of toys they found in the back yard. The toys shot balls when you squeezed them. All the balls are lost by now.

The girls had a week where they were in the kitchen cooking a lot. Here they are making lacy oatmeal cookies.

Then we had a science experiment to see which items from the play room would roll down our ramp.

PJ's mega desk set up in our office.

Most of the parks in town were closed off by this point but we snuck on to the playground at the kids preschool to let them run around for a bit. Wendy told me it was boring without her friends there to play with her. Sorry kiddo!

While they were at the park, I was home planning for another week of mommy preschool.

One night, the girls made chicken tenders. It was basically shake n bake.

Lilly had a lot of fun shaking the bag.

It turned out great!
Another Sunday at home.

We colored pictures for Wendy and Lilly's teacher and dropped them off on their porch.

Another Monday, another line for PJ to wait in to get into the grocery store.

The shelves weren't completely bare but they were more spotty than normal!

We were impressed there was so much candy and junk food available. It seemed like no one was stocking up on the unhealthy stuff!

Some worksheets from Mommy preschool.

Cutting up tissue paper to make...

Butterflies!

The girls are making dog treats for national puppy day!

We dropped these off on friends porches too.

The girls made dinner as well.

Chicken and broccoli lo mein. It was OK.

Wendy was super excited to have me braid her hair so she could sleep on it and have....

Curly hair the next day.

We have had really bipolar weather this month. It will rain for days and then we will have a day or two of 90 degree sun and then we'll get rain for another week. Here, we are enjoying a nice warm and sunny day and Wendy found a roly poly.

Crushing up cereal for our science experiment! We found the iron in the cereal!

One of Wendy's track creations.

Burgers during social distancing call for white bread buns.

A girl and her swing...

Smushed face daddy kisses!

The girls are at it again! Making cheesecake for national cheesecake day.

We each had one and then delivered the rest to friends.

One science lesson was body part Bingo.

The girls are making pizza.

Wendy wanted to decorate hers. She says it's a face with hair.

Another freak 90 degree day and it was perfect for a water balloon fight!

I finally got to make dinner for us and I made some jerk chicken. It was delicious! And I let the girls have hot dogs since I knew the jerk chicken would be too spicy for them.

Lilly's teacher recorded a video of her reading a story and I played it for her during breakfast one day. She was so happy to see Ms. Kim again!

My mom sent me flowers and it was such a nice surprise!

Our science experiment for this day was making bubbles. We combined dish soap with water and used empty toilet paper rolls to blow the bubbles.

The girls were so impressed they insisted PJ had to do it with them when he was done with work later on in the day.

Our HOA was slow to close down the park so we snuck out one day to get our energy out.

When we got home, I found an email from the HOA stating all playgrounds were now off limits. We are praying for an end to this virus and for the economy to recover. The girls have had a positive attitude about being home with us so much but I know they miss their friends. We will continue to be creative as we try to entertain them alone for the foreseeable future!
