W&L September 2019- Family Visits!

The beginning of September brought some cooler weathered mornings which allowed us to get out and hike.

The girls did pretty good! They only asked to be carried in the last mile or so.

They found this boulder that Wendy insisted was a slide.

First day of school! Wendy went back first and then Lilly followed.

First day of school for Lilly!

First day of school for momma too!

Outside her "three's" class. She loves it and pitches a fit when I come to pick her up.

Wendy working on her monkey bar game.

We only did the first week of school before we were off on a family vacation. Here's Wendy on the shuttle to get us from the parking lot to the airport.

Lilly playing her games on the airplane.

We were up at 4:00 to get to the airport, finally on our plane by 6:30 and had a two and a half hour flight to Charlotte. The girls did great!

But it proved to be a bit too much for Lilly.

She took a good hour nap during our layover in Charlotte and I enjoyed every minute of it. My kiddos have never been one to sleep on me so it was a nice treat for us both.

Then the pilots let us come into the cockpit, take pictures, and gave the girls their wings and an autograph book.

Wendy looked very comfortable in the pilot's chair!

Wendy enjoying the view. We only had a 30 minute flight to Raleigh.

We were all too happy to finally arrive at our air bnb for the weekend after all that flying. There was a playroom for the kiddos that they had a blast destroying.

The homeowner made us lemonaid!

The next morning I went for a run and pushed everyone else to get outside too. It was a beautiful day and neighborhood!

PJ getting back from his run. I guess Lilly got hot on our walk.

Family Reunion time!

Catching up with Pop, Mimi, Great-Grandpa Sid and Great Aunt Mary.

The kiddos receiving presents from the Family Reunion organizer- Donald Rose McGhee.

Great Grandpa Sid explaining what the family has been up to this past year.

The family graveyard across the road from the church.

The Mitchell boys!

Our family.

Can't forget Aunt Kelley!

Back at the house, we enjoyed some chickfila while we watched a movie in the movie room.

It was such a fun stay in Raleigh!

Having breakfast with Pop before we head off to Morganton.

We stayed with Great Aunt Betty and Great Uncle Danny while we visited Morganton. Uncle Zack came up to play with the girls for a little bit too!

Lilly chilling on the porch swing with Uncle Danny.

Everybody! (PJ took the picture)

When we went to visit Mammow, the girls saw chickens outside her apartment and were thrilled!

Wendy meeting the woman she's named after- Barbara Rebecca Huffman.

Mammow and Zack.

Me and Mammow.

Me and Zack.

Wendy loved playing with Uncle Zack!

Lilly grew a little fond of him too :).

Lilly and Wendy helping Aunt Betty make pancakes.

Lilly got to have a fancy cup with breakfast.

PJ made a fort for the girls in the room they were staying in.

Walking through the woods with Uncle Danny as our guide.

He has some good stories about how he got these friends!

The girls enjoying some popcicles and bubbles on the porch.

Lilly waiting for her tractor ride.

Wendy enjoying her tractor ride.

Lilly's turn!

Bye guys!

Exploring in the woods.

Lilly insisted she wanted to sleep on this "little bed". Once she was asleep, PJ moved her back to her bed so she wouldn't fall off.

Wendy sleeping under the protection of the bear.

The next day we were off to Georgia but made some pit stops in Mars Hill to show the girls where we met.

The quad was pretty much the same!

As was Owen Theatre. But there was a new theatre and box office built which was a nice surprise!

We had to stop by to see Cindy Whit- our college momma who made sure we were fed and taken care of while we went to school there.

Until next time Owen Theatre!

For lunch we met up with Auntie Whit and Wendy got to hold baby Sadie.

PJ got her to go to sleep too.

So good catching up!

Back in the car to make our way down the mountain to Georgia.

Playing golf while we made a pit stop at Pop's house.

And finally at our last air bnb! We were greeted with the S'more's kit and it was such a nice surprise!

The kitchen.

Living room.

The girls' room. They loved the bunk beds!

Master Bedroom.

Master bath.

Outdoor fire pit.

Loft playroom.

Walking down the path to visit the lake.

We were all a little unsure about swimming in it but had fun nonetheless!

Taking a break Lilly style.

Swinging outside.

Loving the trampoline!

Visits from Grandma!

They loved going out on this kayak but also got pretty nervous if we got too far away from the dock.

Waving to the duckies.

Grandma brought some Barbies for the girls to play with and they loved playing in the loft with them!

There was also a game room there the girls loved playing in. Foosball is a new favorite.

Lilly's turn on the swing.

A proper southern dinner! Bojangles in a box!

Dinner on the screened in porch.

Fishing with Grandma.

Family kayak run.

Then it was time for a couples only row.

S'more's time!

It was 80 degrees outside but we had to take advantage of the fire pit!

Grandma and Lilly.

Wendy pushing Lilly on the swing.

The next day we were off to explore Atlanta. Atlanta traffic greeted us with insanity.

Wendy and Lilly got to play at Centennial Olympic Park for a little bit.

It quickly got too hot for them.

Finally at the aquarium and they loved the penguins!

Fun show about ocean life in the courtyard.

After the aquarium, we got to visit with Great Grandma Rachel.

Wendy went exploring around the house (she thinks any house with stairs has a playroom upstairs) and found the fanciest bathroom she's ever seen. She even said to PJ "I love it! It's so fancy!"

Lilly showing off her jewelry to Uncle Tommy.

Thanking Aunt Kelley for their Elsa doll and dress up materials.

Meeting Great Grandma Rachel Anne- who Lilly Anne is named after.

4 generations of Mitchells!

All of us at the aquarium.

The next day we introduced the kiddos to Waffle House!

They enjoyed their waffles but it was really cold in there.

Coldness makes Lilly sad.

Then the next day we were off to the Atlanta airport to go back home to Austin.

Wendy and Lilly loved the trains in the airport.

Such good little travelers!

We were all happy to be home but I think non happier than Baxter.

After a weekend of rest, the kiddos were back to school!

Working on Halloween makeup.

My project while the girls are in school: painting the house!

On Wendy and Mommy days, we get donuts.

For my birthday, we rented a Tesla to take out on the town.

Trying to look fancy.

We went to a restaurant downtown that specialized in upscale southern food. It was delicious and we would love to go back!

They gave me a birthday card at the table which was a sweet surprise!

The finished playroom! I made a make shift stage for the girls to do all their performances on. There's also a puppet theatre to be able to do puppet shows with too.

They got right in to character and were ready to perform!

They stories they come up with for the puppets are pretty funny!

Wendy finally learned how to go across the monkey bars on her own!

Wendy pretending to be a statue.

Lilly being Lilly.

Chasse-ing in to school.

Playing with a baby lizard out on the playground. Lilly thought it was cute until it jumped on her!

We found some Halloween make up along with some fake blood and Wendy has enjoyed playing pranks with the blood.

My friends got me a birthday cake for my birthday!

And PJ met up with us to have some sushi lunch.

After I picked up Lilly from school, we went to get gelato.

Wendy playing with the air conditioning.

Glamor shot!

The tricycle brigade.

We were invited to a birthday party where the girls got to have their face painted.

Wendy chose a lion.

Lilly chose a rainbow butterfly.

What a busy but fun month!
