25 Days of Christmas 2020

 Day 1: Make Kindness Rocks

We all had fun drawing various Christmas messages and pictures on the rocks and hiding them around the neighborhood to brighten people's days.

Wendy was most proud of this one- a snowman!

Day 2: Make Snowflakes

The girls get better and better at cutting these out every year! This year, Wendy was catching on how to fold the paper to cut so maybe in a year or two they can do it by themselves from start to finish!

Day 3: Christmas Light Show

We have seen this house every year since we've been in Austin and it makes for a pretty fun night! Wendy danced in the street most of the time we were there.

Lilly was pretty cold but joined in on the fun eventually.

20 or so minutes of Christmas songs complete with dancing lights!

Day 4: Shop for Christmas Ornaments

Wendy chose the penguin slide, Lilly chose Yoshi. PJ chose the last toilet paper ornament truly representing this year and I chose the masked family ornament. It will be a year to remember!

Day 5: North Pole Flyer
Welcoming the train!

We had complimentary hot chocolate upon arrival and a cozy window seat for the passing landscape!

And we got to see Santa! He was wearing a face shield and only paused to hand over a wooden train whistle but it was nice to see him none the less!

Mrs. Clause stopped by to say "Hi" and hand out her cookies!

Some coloring to pass the last 20 minutes of the ride.

Such a fun time!

Day 6: Make Cookies for Ministering Families

I read the ingredients and the girls (with some help from PJ) did the rest!

Always fun to deliver these Christmas cookies.

Day 7: Thanking our Local Firemen
We went by the firehouse in our neighborhood to thank the firemen but they were on a call. So we left the cookies by their door with these cards drawn by the girls!

Day 8: Look for Lights

This house covers every square inch of their yard and house in Christmas lights. It's so fun to see their decorations every year!

Day 9: Christmas Dance Party!
Complete with dances of 12 Days of Christmas, Jingle Bells, Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutcracker and White Christmas

Day 10: Christmas Coloring
We actually saved this for when we were in the car waiting to enter the Zilker Lights drive through display. Wendy reminded me every day leading up to it that we still needed to do our Christmas coloring!

Day 11: Christmas Movie- PJ's pick
No picture but we watched the Nutcracker movie version by Disney

Day 12: Zilker Lights
We have gone to see these lights every year as well but usually you can walk around the whole park looking at the lights. This year they offered a drive through option to keep everyone socially distant. We missed the ferris wheel and carousel but still had fun seeing the lights!

If you look really closely, you'll see Santa! He had a microphone and was speaking to all the kiddos as they drove by. Mrs. Clause was cozy on the porch of the "house".

There were about 3 different lighted tunnels like this. So cool!

Day 13: Make Cookies for Neighbors
New Sunday, Same cookie game!

We love making these for our neighbors and passing them out every year! Hopefully our neighbors enjoy them too!

Day 14: Decorate Doors
The plan was to decorate them to look like snowmen. It quickly turned into a design contest where Wendy wanted to make a huge snowflake on her door.

And Lilly wanted hers to look like a giant present.

Day 15: Christmas Karaoke

Lilly wasn't super into it until she got to sing from on top of PJ's shoulders. Songs that were featured were Jingle Bells, Angels We Have Heard on High, and I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.

Day 16: Draw Pictures for Martha Mow
There is a lady we know in a Nursing Home and since we couldn't go visit her, we drew pictures and sent them to her!

Day 17: Look for Lights
We pass this house every day on the way to take Wendy to school and she was so excited to come by to see it at night. They had a great display!

This whole culdesac works together to decorate their street. It was fabulous!

And there was a fake Santa that Lilly was terrified of :)

Day 18: Christmas Movie: April's Pick
I chose my favorite: A Muppet Christmas Carol!

Day 19: Christmas Scavenger Hunt
This was something I saw as a quick and easy activity that ended up being the kids' favorite! There were clues all over the house and at the end a Christmas surprise.

Day 20: Make Cookies for Santa
This time instead of rolling out the dough, we pressed the dough into these molded pans. They got a little over cooked but Santa didn't mind.

Day 21: Make Gingerbread Houses
The kids waited all month to finally be able to make these!

Day 22: Christmas Movie- Kids Pick
The kids chose to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Day 23: Maywald Light Display
Also something we have done every year we have lived in Austin. This light display is so cool and they won the ABC Light Fight last year too! It was too bad it was really cold this night so we rushed through the lights but it is so fun to see!

Day 24: Make a Birthday Cake for Jesus

Day 25: Open Presents!
