W&L April 2020

We have a Starbucks in our neighborhood and, before Covid-19, the girls and I would walk there to get a cake pop. Knowing that the dining room was closed, I called and asked them how we could walk there and still be served and they said we could walk through the drive through! I was so excited and I think the girls had fun too!

Enjoying their cake pops before we headed back to the house.

Wendy decorated this table in her room and decided to have a birthday party for Pikachu.

Wendy had been really resistant to trying to ride her bike without the training wheels so we turned it into a balance bike by taking the pedals and training wheels off. She learned how to really zoom on that thing!

In trying to entertain the kiddos, I pulled out the last of the toys we had stashed away from Christmas. They made their own "tent city".

Wendy said she wanted to sleep in hers but I promised her it wouldn't be as comfortable as her own bed.

Lilly is not the first to want to go outside and move her body but if we give her challenges to go "around the circle", she'll usually take us up on them.

On a walk with Daddy.

We trimmed some trees and the girls came in shouting "Hosanna! Hosanna!" I'm glad they listen to some of what we try to teach them!

We drove to a nearby neighborhood to take part in their trail system in order to mix up our outside time again and we found some fun soccer goals.

Preschool counting with Playdough!

Lilly got to have a video chat with her bestie- Yaya.

In preparation for Easter, the girls painted these canvases.

Then, after a few weeks going on the balance bike, It all seemed to click for Wendy and she took off on her bike! She hasn't stopped since!

I told the girls they could do my makeup one day and it evolved into... this.

Making Easter sugar cookies to hand out to friends!

I loved this little guy!

In further desperation to entertain the kiddos, we got out the Wii. Wendy loved boxing!

A neighbor dropped off these gifts for the girls on our porch for Easter. I was so surprised and grateful she took the time to think of us! I hid them in my closet until Easter morning.

Twice a year we have bulk trash pick up and we had quite a few things we were saving for this occasion. One of which was a sink- that Lilly insisted was her bathtub. Sorry kiddo, I don't think the HOA will allow it!

Dying eggs with shaving cream.

All the finished products. We used the shaving cream technique, put glitter on some, dyed some with the usual tablets, and used some shrink wrap skins. They all turned out really nice!

Easter morning! Between gifts from neighbors and PJ and I guilt buying on Amazon, the girls had plenty of things to open.

I snuck out before the sun came up Easter morning to hide the eggs. There was a tornado warning and rain was forecast so I decided to hide them in plain site in case it started raining. Which, it did.

But the girls didn't mind!

We took pictures for our neighbor to thank her for her gifts!

And a different neighbor gave the girls some chocolate for Easter too.

Getting all dressed up in our Easter best!

Wendy singing to us during church.

Easter treats.

And the best mac n cheese in the world!!

The next day we went outside to play and found a friend had come to draw nice messages on our driveway!

Wendy pose!

Lilly being... Lilly...

One morning I was really scared because I couldn't find Lilly. I checked her room, under her bed, inside her tent, and finally went back in my room to find she had snuck in our bed at some point during the night and was sleeping soundly.

Wendy drawing a garden of flowers with a sunny sky.

Lilly drawing her own masterpiece.

The girls' dance teacher sent a video to practice dancing with so we all got dressed in our leotards and had dance class. Wendy had a blast! Until Lilly had a turn being the leader for their dance. She at least agreed to take a picture.

In order to pay it forward, we walked to a friend's house in the neighborhood and drew some kind messages on her driveway too.

Wendy watching her favorite teacher from church during a video she had recorded.

Nature walk with Daddy.

They found a HUGE snail!

Lilly insists the trunk in PJ's car is her "secret compartment". She has it set up to her liking to hang out in when we play outside.

The real reactions to surprise treats! A friend dropped these off on our porch and the girls were so excited!

Going on a bike ride with Wendy.

Lilly trying to make a biodome for the many rolly pollies she finds in the back yard.

I walked upstairs one day and found these strange sights.

I asked Wendy about them and she said she had made a museum! Their imagination knows no bounds.

Lilly practicing tap in our bathroom.

The museum with gates. You had to be a kiddo to enter... unless you were a grownup with a kiddo. Luckily I was allowed admission.

Wendy drew an elaborate road their hotwheels were able to drive on.

Lilly went on her first adventure to a store! I think she was actually pretty excited to wear the mask.

Meanwhile, Wendy and I went on a run/bike ride. She's a great little running buddy and we've been able to go up to 5 miles together!

Lilly in Lowe's.

Then, PJ had to go again later in the day so it was Wendy's turn.

And who doesn't love a run through the sprinklers?

Lilly found it really funny to try to take a bath in the sink.

One day I sat down with the girls and went through their rooms and the playroom to organize everything. It took a long time but resulted in a dance party!

On another day, PJ took Wendy on a bike ride and Lilly was my helper. I have found if I ask her to be my helper, she can be tricked into cleaning. But if you use the work "clean"- forget about it.

She painstakingly cleaned out the sink and helped me clean up the kitchen.

Then she had an early bath and I braided her hair so she could have curly hair in the morning.

It's little things like having curly hair even when you're not going to see anyone that makes the girls happy! Hopefully we can start seeing friends soon.
