W&L June 2020

In the beginning of June, Austin businesses were opening up again so we enrolled the girls in a gymnastics camp and some gymnastics classes. 

They have come to this camp every summer we've lived here- 3 years in a row!

The coaches are great with them and they were so happy to be out of the house and playing with other kids.

Even though I try to keep them busy, they look forward to "iPad time" every day. Some days as soon as we wake up they ask "is it iPad time?"

Pool date with friends! We feel lucky that our neighborhood is one of the only ones in Austin that opened our neighborhood pool. All the city pools are closed and the bit of water that has been in the creeks is slowly drying up. We try to invite our friends as much as possible to come swim with us!

Wendy (and PJ and Lilly) met up with me on this trail when I was going for a bike ride. It's getting too hot now but it was fun while it lasted!

Wendy's bottom two teeth were loose and one day I was shocked to see her big girl tooth was already starting to grow in!

Lilly got a new gymnastics leotard in the mail and created quite the outfit out of it. 

Lilly is our unsatisfied eater. She would be happy living off of cheese and crackers, chicken nuggets and hot dogs for the rest of her childhood. Of course, the rest of us are not OK living off of those things so our rule for dinner is she has to at least taste it and then she can make her own dinner. This was one of her creations she was very excited about: Cheesy taco. String cheese wrapped up in bread. 

Wendy also has a bit of a grump face when she wakes up. 

One morning I dropped Wendy off for her camp but it wasn't quite time for Lilly's to start. So, Lilly entertained herself by running up and down this ramp while Wendy played with her camp mates.

Inside the gym. If you look closely, you can see Lilly about to jump off a trampoline into a foam pit. 

Lilly somehow got hurt so we needed to get her checked out by the doctor to make sure she was OK. She is and is still loving gymnastics class!

We put up the "Mitchell family stage" again in the playroom and Wendy christened it with quite the performance!

Lilly also got in on performing and explained how to give checkups with her DR gear. 

Wendy's friend Melody was ready for a playdate so we were happy to oblige!

Happy Father's Day! I made PJ a bacon and pancake breakfast and Lilly helped make the fruit skewers. 

Then he got to open his present from the girls. Wendy wrapped it :P

Wendy was excited to show us her tuck jumps she's been working on. 

And here's the Father's Day pillowcase! My friend Megan took some drawings the girls had made and transferred it to vinyl and pressed the vinyl on to the pillow case. PJ loved it!

And then it finally happened- Wendy let me pull our her first TWO teeth! She was getting to the point where eating and even brushing her teeth was bothering her so I just pulled the teeth out. She was a little frightened by the experience but super excited the next day when she saw the treat the tooth fairy left for her!

Back at gymnastics class. Wendy's class is always in the back of the gym so it is hard to get a picture of her but she is working on the uneven bars!

The end of June we were able to celebrate our 12 year anniversary!

We ate at a restaurant that looks out to Lake Travis. It was our first date since Valentine's Day.

For Lilly's birthday, her bestie came over to hit the pinata with us. I asked that they bring their own bat and the girls stayed mostly distant...

Afterward Lilly had some candy and dyed her mouth blue. It was slightly terrifying!

And goodness look at these presents! When I explained to Lilly she wouldn't be able to have a traditional birthday party she was really sad and said "but that means I won't get any presents!". We made sure that wasn't true and the grandparents helped too!

After presents, we were able to take Lilly to a local water park to spend the day. It was so fun and the kiddos had a blast!

The water park was right down the street from another one of Lilly's favorite: Buc-ees! So we had to go see her old friend since it was her birthday. 

Finally home for cake. May all your wishes come true!

The next day Lilly wanted to have a fancy dinner (where we get dressed up and go to a sit down restaurant) so we made reservations for the patio and obliged. 

After about 10 minutes in, Lilly laid her head on her appetizer plate and said she wanted to go home. 

We made it through though and had a nice meal. Happy Birthday Lilly!
