25 Days of Christmas 2021

Day 1: Christmas Scavenger Hunt!

The "treasure" was in their beds. They actually found the gifts before I woke up and I re-hid them and told them to go open the Advent calendar. This was the first year Wendy could ready the clues all by herself so we actually got to sit and watch rather than run around the house with them!

Day 2: Decorate Doors. Wendy chose to decorate her door like an angel.

Lilly and PJ drew out Santa Clause to decorate her door.

Day 3: Christmas Movie- PJ's Pick. He chose the classic "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" movie.

Day 4: Decorate (and hide) kindness rocks. This is a fav!

Day 5: Make Cookies for Ministering Families. This year I offered to make the cookies ahead of time and just supply the decorating tools. It worked really well!

I was impressed that the kids actually took their time and great care to decorate. Wendy even wanted to learn a couple cookie decorating techniques.

Day 6: Make Snowflakes!

The kids were much more successful at cutting out the snowflakes than the adults were this year....

Day 7: Thank you Firemen! We delivered some cookies to the local firemen and they gave the girls a tour of the truck and some sweet little plush doggies!

Day 8: See lights...on a boat! I actually had something else planned this night but my friend who has a boat texted me and said "tonight's the night if we're going to go see lights!" so we jumped at the opportunity!

Wendy had a blast sitting at the front of the boat with her friends.

And it was really cool to see the light show from the river while sipping hot cocoa!

                                                               Day 9: Christmas Dance Party!

Day 10: Main Street Bethlehem! This is a free event a local church puts on every year where they transform a city block into Bethlehem. There are stores and homes you get to poke your head in and actors that help tell the story of the night Jesus was born. It's a fav!

Day 11: Look for Lights!

Day 12: Make cookies for neighbors.

Day 13: Christmas Karaoke. Wendy: It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Lilly: You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch. PJ: Angels We have Heard on High. Me: I'll have a Blue Christmas.

Day 14: Make pictures for Martha Mow.

Day 15: Maywald Christmas Display! Winners of the 2019 ABC Christmas Lights Fight, this local display is a display we love to visit every year!

Day 17: Christmas Movie my pick! Admittedly, it took us 3 days to watch this movie. There was a lot of pausing to explain what was going on and over all I'm not sure how much the kids actually remember. But it's such a good movie it was worth the pain! Hopefully over time they'll grow to love it too... Hopefully.

Day 18: Breakfast at IHOP! We brought our own Christmas decorations and decorated the table. The kids were so impressed- a restaurant of only pancakes!?

Day 16: Christmas Coloring. We decided to group the IHOP breakfast and coloring together to give the kiddos something to do while we waited for our food. It worked out well!

Day 19: Make Cookies for Santa!

The kids were kind of over decorating by this time but excited that these were the cookies they could eat!

Day 20: Christmas Movie- Kids pick! They chose Elf but Wendy made sure to suggest that next time, they should have their own individual days and not have to agree on a movie to watch...

Day 21: Decorate Gingerbread Houses!

Day 22: Christmas Light Show!

Day 23: Ice Skating!

Day 24: Make a Birthday Cake for Jesus!

We decided to make pull-apart cupcakes this year. There were a lot of sprinkles!

Day 25: Open Presents!
