W&L June 2021

With Lilly out of school but cookies to make, she became my sous chef and helped me out!

First day vs. Last day of preschool for Lilly!

First day vs. Last Day of Kindergarten for Wendy!

My good friend made this shirt for me to give to PJ for Father's Day.

Dance recitals for the girls! Lilly actually danced and we were so proud!

Wendy was in two classes this year and did a fantastic job! Here she is dancing to "She's In Love" from Little Mermaid on Broadway

Here she is dancing to "You've Got A Friend in Me" from Toy Story.

Flowers all around!

Peeking in on Lilly sleeping.

We never know how we're going to find her! Sometimes she's on the floor, sometimes she's in her closet.

This was Lilly's "hangry" face. We were at Schlitterbahn and she had a great time! But she was also ready to eat.

Early morning fun with Lilly.

The first week of June I had Lilly home with me and I was working on cookies. The 2nd week of June, Wendy was out of school but I still had cookies to make so they played at the babysitter's for a couple of days. The third week of June, I was at Girl's Camp with our ward's Young Women.

The fourth week of June, we jet-setted to the Outer Banks! We flew out on Father's Day so PJ sported his new shirt.

The girls did great considering we had to be at the airport at 6 a.m. Their favorite part is riding the shuttle from the parking lot to the airport. They always get a little freaked out during the TSA check. Our first flight was about 2.5 hours long and Lilly was content to play on her iPad the whole time.

Wendy and PJ watched a movie.

After another 2 hour flight and finding our rental car, we were on the road for the hour and a half drive down to the beach!

12 hours of travel but what a view!

We played at my mom's pool with Uncle Zack. The water was freezing so Lilly wouldn't get all the way in but she scooted around the pool in this baby float.

Once it warmed up a bit, we hit the beach!

The next day was more of a pool day.

And cake to celebrate Lilly's birthday with everyone!

The cake was beautiful and delicious!

The next day was too cold to do pool/beach so we walked around the Boardwalk. The girls can never pass up these picture boards.

The next day we started off the day with a walk on the beach.

Wendy was in her happy place!

We found this picturesque pier and had some fun taking pictures.

I even snagged one of Hannah!

The girls had fun posing too.

Another photo board!

Checking out the Corolla Lighthouse

The girls and I climbed up the 9 flights of stairs with no complaining! We just took it slow and there were fans throughout the lighthouse that kept the air cool.

The views were spectacular! It was so fun to think about the people who used to keep the lighthouse running so ships wouldn't crash into the beach below.

The girls asked if they could throw money into the wishing well and I said they had to give me a picture.

We stopped in at an Old Time Photo booth and the girls wanted to be Mermaids!

Hannah and I posed as the Pirate and ship-wench.

Later in the day we went to the boardwalk to get ice cream and found that they were having a dance contest for... free ice cream! The DJ was so gracious and declared them (and all the other kids that were dancing) winners!

Breaking it down!

They also won some cups and "smurfies" which look like little owls.  Way to go girls!

Near our condo we kept seeing these little beach bunnies. They were so cute!

Taking some time to swing before we went looking for ghost crabs.

The next day we went on a family kayak tour. I was in the boat with Lilly.

Hannah held her own.

Wendy and Amber went together.

PJ and my mom went together.

And Alex held his own as well! It was a fun little tour but I'll remember to bring snacks next time.

My brother was able to get PJ and I a table at the restaurant where he works and I got to see him in action!

I'm sure he doesn't get to look out the window very much but this was the view right in front of him. Just beautiful!

It was a great dinner! Thanks to Zack for getting us in/cooking for us and thanks to Amber for watching the kiddos!

PJ couldn't pass up the photo boards either.

Last day at the beach and we all chilled beach side! Zack even caught a fish!

We ended the day at the boardwalk to cash in those free ice cream tickets. Wendy got a little sad realizing it was the last day of vacation but I take that as a good sign that she had a blast!

Bye beach!

We took a small detour when we were going back to the airport to checkout my old hometown: Elizabeth City!

The house where I grew up!

My old friend Katy (Pritchard) Brickhouse!

This was our load we pulled around the airport with us. Our flight from Norfolk to Dallas was 3 hours long and we were looking forward to a quick flight from Dallas to Austin to get home.

Our flight from Dallas to Austin was delayed 3 times and changed gates 4 times. We didn't walk over all of Dallas airport but we saw at least half of it. After another day of 12+hours of traveling, we were so happy to get home.

And what a surprise! Our kitchen had been painted while we were gone. I love the white cabinets!

The girls collected a lot of shells at the beach so we went to work to try to make useful art out of them.

Wendy learned how to use the glue gun.

Lilly's shell picture.

And finally, Lilly's 5th Birthday!

She asked for breakfast in bed

And then got busy opening presents!

We got all but one.

She went from having the "best day ever"

To saying it was the worst birthday ever. Her Primary teacher was super sweet and dropped off ice cream and M&Ms for her though which was a fun surprise!

We ended the day at the pool. Happy birthday girlie!

Here's to the next year ahead!

Back to the beach for a second! We had a photographer come to take pictures of us. This was the first time we were all together since I was pregnant with Wendy!

All the kids

All the grand kids

I love this candid shot! The girls were trying to play in the water and then the water came up to their knees in no time flat!

Good times!
